Im new here, never have been on a forum before, i was curious if anyone has any info on this condition of myelomalacia that I JUSTFOUND OUT MYSELF FROM MY MRI FROM OVER AYEAR AGO I HAVE THIS DISEASE! I KNEW MY BODY WAS GETTN WORSE BUT THE NUEROSURGEON MIGHT HAVE THOUGHT TO INFORM ME AFTER SPINAL DECOMPRESSION SURGERY!!!

  • As I'm sure you know, this is a softening or edematous area in the cord. It is caused by compression. I don't think it gets worse or it shouldn't after decompression. But I don't think the damage gets better either. It usually shows up on an MRI as I white area. My MRI stated that I might have early myelomalacia but my Dr. never mentioned it either. Guess they don't want to scare us even more.
  • Are very evasive and try not to talk about it. My suggestion is which they never told me is to
    Keep all anxiety to a minimum .
    When doing anything don't try to overdo it.
    Stay away from stressful situations.
    I found it can. get. worse.
    Mine is at the c. 1. C. 2. Area
