Hello Everyone:

I am new to the forum, So if I asked questions that have already been answered please refer me to were the answer to the question is .

I had ACDF surgery 1/2014. I have been off for a year, and currently trying to return to work.....My doctor sent me to work with some special accommodations such as a chair that supports my neck and a headset . Along with being able to sit, stand, walk 2/3 out an 8 hour day.

Unfortunately, my Director denied me to come back to work.

1. Is Cervical Stenosis a disability or what?

2. Do you continue to have Cervical Stenosis after ACDF surgery?

3. Does Cervical Stenosis qualify you as a "Walking Quadriplegic"?

4. How long will you have Cervical Stenosis?
Sending gentle hugs....Felicia

  • I am currently awaiting to have a ACDF on C5-C7, I have been off for several months now from work, and it is driving me a little stir crazy. The way my doctor explained it to me after the surgery and recovery, as long as everything fused that I would be able to go back to a normal life, but would have to be careful on day to day choices. I believe Stenosis can be considered a disability, but I believe that one of the requirements are not being able to walk without the assistance of a cane or walker, luckily I am not that far gone yet. I believe that once the surgery is completed your Stenosis is repaired for the time being, but it can reoccur in many patient's. I have stenosis in the Thoracic T8-T12, Lumbar L3-S1, and Cervical C5-C7 and completely fill what you are going through. It is hard on your body and also difficult on the mind. Good luck.
