Symptoms and frustrated

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forum but could use some help and support. So starting back in June of 14, I started feeling numbness in my right leg. Thought not much about it, maybe a pinched nerve. It would work itself out. Fast forward to Oct 14, I started having troubles in my left leg, not being able to lift it very high to walk. Ever since both legs are now numb, tingling, and my right leg burns every so often. I do not have a lot if any pain but I can feel something going on in my mid to lower back area.
I started seeing a chiro in Dec and decompression treatments in Jan. I had seen my primary dr way back but had not been to them since the first bout of numbness. So I went recently, they did an x-ray which of course showed nothing. They put me on muscle relaxers, pain killers and a steriod. Well the muscle relaxer sucks..and does not relieve my spasms in my legs and back. The chiro and the dr are working together to get an MRI. I should know this week. Anyways, so as of now I have numbness, tingling, in both legs. Weakness in left leg where I have to use a cane to walk because of basically foot drop and burning in my right.
I really do not believe its anything else but a back issue. I am really scared this will not get better. I am only 38 and doing all the stretches and exercises the chiro has said. Even a few I found by searching on the internet. I just hope there is not perm nerve damage and I really hope my leg weakness is not perm.

Thanks for listening,

  • Welcome and sorry to hear you are experiencing the things you are it
can be frustrating, there are so many here that have dealt with those
issues forever. You will find great advice and support here.
I would first stop letting the Chiropractor do anything to you and see
a back Specialists there is a search tool here to find one. There are situations
where Chiropractors can do more damage than good and I am surprised your
GP has not suggested that with things getting progressively worse.
Hopefully you will be able to find a Doctor that can help you.
    Best wishes
  • Hi Hope3,

I have heard and read that a few times about the chiropractor. When I talked to my dr's office the other day I did make sure to ask. They said it was still ok for me to go. I have doubts myself about going. Like I said, I am hoping for an MRI to be approved this week and get one done. That way I can get on a focused track to getting better. Right now I feel like I am in limbo and no one really knows what is wrong with me. So I feel, frustrated and really depressed like this is a perm situation.
