Lumbar Fusion nerve problems 7 yrs on

Hi I had L-5,S-1 fusion in 2007 due to herniated discs and spinal instability. Ever since I have had trouble with my back and legs. When I have flair ups the pain can start in my leg or back then change ie I can go to bed with leg pain then wake up with back pain. I do suffer with a lot of pain in the big muscles in the middle of my back it starts of tingling then turns into spasms. Then this pain goes into both legs.

I have been back to the NHS specialist who did an X-ray and MRI. They have gave me the option of removing the screws which they think may be touching the nerve. But he said if it was touching the nerve it would only cause leg pain not my mid back pain.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?
