Who should Pay?

Please your opinion who should pay this bill.
I started seeing a heart specialist so I could get a pass to have my
leg veins taken care of.
I made sure with the office that I had to see a IHC Doctor and all
tests and procedures be done there. So onward we go leg, neck,
stomach scans, treadmill test etc.
Last week all these bills over $3,000. started showing up that my insurance was
not going to cover it. I called the Doctor's office and asked them
what was going on. Well guess what they forgot to tell me that he dropped
my insurance last January. I nicely asked well why did you continue to treat
me and why was not I made aware of this change. She snapped at me
"well we are busy". I told her I was not going to pay for it and she said well
we are not either. I told her well if you have other patients who have this
insurance you should be kind enough to tell them and also you should change
the Doctor's web-site that still lists that insurance. She said they will when they
get to it.
I was furious and not sure what direction to go in. Too busy give me a break
to me that is no excuse and I will not pay that bill, I just don't know how to go
about it.
Would appreciate your in-put this is keeping me up along with the pain.
Thanks Sherri

but what they did seems very shady. Once they knew that there were no longer participating with your insurance company, they had the obligation to inform you. There is no way you are going to know that information.
If they did tell you upfront, they you would have the option to not have the procedure done or go somewhere else.

This is a time when I would have firm with their office. Being 'busy' is no excuse for them

  • I just got another bill for that place and I checked his inter-net still says he takes
    my insurance.
Thanks for your reply I appreciate it.
I am in tears I don't know how we will pay for all of these.
When I get my emotions under control I am going to call their office and
we will see what they say.
I hate the though of a Lawyer don't want to handle things that way and
    they cost money.
    Thanks for your help.
