Pain in OTHER leg after surgery

Hi All. I'm a 29 year old teacher from charlotte, nc. I had a microdiscectomy on my L5/S1 disc on June 15th. I'm 3 weeks post op and started having numbness and pain in both of my legs whereas before surgery it was only in my right leg. Has Anyone experienced this? Am I doing something wrong? Could it be from swelling? The first two weeks were pretty good...now week 3 I'm worried that the surgery isn't going to work. :( So so so tired of this. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Dana and welcome!
I think that you are experiencing the usual post op sensations. These being residual pain and nerve irritation. You are still early in recovery.Arm yourself with patience, you will needed it.It will get better! Are you doing any walking already?
Don't take my word for it as I'm not a doc.Just a sufferer. Call your doc and talk to him/her about it.I called mine 3 times in the first 3 wks.He told me what I wrote above.
Speedy recovery, and let us know how you are doing.

  • hi,i had a double (lam) and no leg pain.after surgery i had left leg pain and numbness.never had it before, only after my surgery...going on 6 weeks now.and my back still feels the same.i think the dr hit l4-5 when he was doing my surgery.or he was going to fuse me and decided not to and the lam didn;t work.hope you get to feeling better soon..
