Just curious what non-narcotic intervention you have tried that has been helpful?
I am dealing with constant lower back spasms, leg pain, numbness and tingling in feet with some breakout issues more severe depending on day. Currently I take flexeril, gabapentin and oxycodone when needed. Medications are tough for me as I get spacey, forgetful, etc. i wont take any during the day when I have to drive because of the side effects, I do have a portable TENS that i use on the days I cant let pain slow me down( which feels like everyday lately, ha)I have tried epidural shots several times with very little response. I have been to many chiropractors and PT, they have helped temporarily, but not enough to justify the cost. I have talked to a therapist about mindfulness, but not being able to sit is complicating things as far as driving, appointments, waiting rooms- I save the limited amount of time I have for sitting, standing, walking for my kids.
Recently, I changed my diet to increase foods that naturally have anti inflammatory properties and decrease those that contribute to inflammation(pretty much vegetarian with limited dairy now, still eat seafood if caught and not farm raised)also trying to keep from gaining weight while in this holding, can't exercise, pattern...especially since I seem to be the lucky winner of weight gain as a side effect of the gabepentin.
It got me thinking what other options might be out there, like acupuncture(I have done dry needling, not much response there though).
What have you tried? Did it help or was it a waste of time and very precious energy?
I am struggling with the very real possibility that this pain is in fact the new me and getting back to normal is never going to happen.
