I'm a 17 year old female. I've been in extreme pain for a month now due to a L4-L5 herniated disc, confirmed by an mri also showing severe compression on the nerve root. I'm going to physio and taking t3s, gabapentin and naproxen, but at most they're just taking the edge off the pain. Physio is also at a loss because every exercise or stretch reproduces the symptoms and worsens my condition. My left foot and shin have been numb for a month and the electric pain through my left buttock and down my left leg haven't taken a vacation either.
I was wondering- has anyone else had this same problem? Is it just so acute at the moment that it's untreatable? I can't sleep at night without taking my t3s which is already starting to concern me. As soon as they wear off I'm awake and in excruciating pain again. I'm also really young to have these types of problems. Is this going to progress my whole life? I'm already barely functioning- some days I can't get out of bed. It's affecting my education as well.
Anyone have any sound words of advice to offer? Anything your doctor has tried, any tips etc. As I'm sure you all know this is no fun and anything advice helps!
thank you all so much! xx
