L2-L3 Fusion - 3 weeks post op - how am I doing?

Hello all, I had fusion at L2-L3 three weeks ago today. After 8 days I weaned myself off of percoset and am now taking tramadol, tylenol arthritis and naprosyn, and icing. I have to take naprosyn due to having psoriatic arthritis that is in flare. I have been walking every day on my treadmill, today did 1.1 miles. I try to keep telling myself to get up and move. Today I was able to do some very light housework and bake cookies and went out to dinner. I am not pain free, I do have a pain that shoots down my leg to my knee but am wondering if that could be because of a nerve that my doctor said was compressed for so long. The pain on some days makes me consider a percoset but I haven't taken one. I have also noticed that my sleeping at night has increased in length and that I haven't for the last few nights gotten up to take a pain pill. Can anyone tell me how they think I am progressing, its hard to find info on a single L2-L3 fusion.

  • I think your moving along wonderfully. Movement is the key in lowering my back pain, and you seem to have that concept. Check to see if you have a hot pool at a local phys therapy . Keep up the great work.
  • Have you had fusion surgery? Today was one of those days where I didn't want to move but forced myself to get up and get on the treadmill. I wish I understood the pain in my left leg but I do know that it lets up the more I move and gets worse the more I sit so will keep moving! I'm also wondering its normal for my leg to be numb after surgery still. The place where I will be going doesn't have a hot pool but that does sound like a really good idea.
  • I had fusion at L2/L3 also. And youre doing much better than I was at 3 weeks post Op. Just make sure youre mindful of no BLT (Bending, lifting, twisting). I started physical therapy about 4-5 weeks post op and it seemed to help the shooting sciatica pains! Stay positive, its a long journey! Im 14 weeks post op
  • Yesterday was a great day, I walked 2 miles, went to Walmart and today I've been down all day, absolutely no energy..feel like someone sucked all the life out of me. How can I go from feeling great one day to totally wiped out!! Very disappointing!
