Hi...I'm a newbee here. I'm a 51 year old female. Had a bad fall off a balance beam on my head when i was 15 years old. Never got checked out by a doctor.....now I'm think I'm paying. My symptoms for the past 4 years or so have just been a migraine headache that would last 4 days each time. They started months apart and then ended up being almost once a month. I noticed at the same time my neck muscles were really tight and I thought the migraines were from stress. Once the migraine stopped, the pain in my neck was gone, so I thought it was mostly a "head" issue. I have been seeing a chiropractor which seemed to have been helping temporarily. Now, I'm in constant pain everyday all day long.
Long story shorter.....
Had an MRI last week and this is what is going on:
Mild disc narrowing. Small left lateral disc herniation and facet hypertrophic degenerative change bilaterally, right more than left with moderate left sided and mild right sided neural foraminal stenosis.
Moderate to marked disc space narrowing with degenerative bone marrow signal changes along the endplates and Schmorl's nodes with retrolisthesis noted with a posterior disc/osteophyte complex with effacement of the anterior thecal sac abutting the ventral aspect of the cord without cord compresion. There is bilateral uncovertebral arthrosis with marked left-sided and moderate to marked right-sided neural foraminal stenonis and there is mild canal stenosis.
I've been looking up on line what these words mean, and it doesn't look good and I'm quite scared.
I went to my primary care physician and he referred me to a Physiatrist. I go to him on April 7th.
From what I've been reading on here, I'm sure he's going to do the shots and physical therapy to see if some of the pain can be alleviated.
Don't mean for this to be so long....
Has anyone dealt with any similar problems and how did you deal with them? If I have to have surgery to get rid of this pain, I'm not totally against it! I have alot of living to do and want to do it pain free!!
