I was injured in auto accident in January 2011. We were hit from behind . I had MRI and xray. I was told that my curve of my neck was now reversed. I had two herniated disc at the bend where my curve reversed. C4-5 , C5-6. I also had torn the ligaments on my skull that kept my Atlis and Axis level. My skull doesn't stay centered. I had cervical fusion for the two did in 2012. One month after surgery the disc above C4-5 collapsed. I was also experiencing lower back pain. I had another MRI and CAT. Found two herniated disc in lumbar . L4-5, L5-6. I have been diagnosed with spondylosis of cervical spine. Cervical stenosis. I have arthritis on base of skull and down my spine. My last cervical fusion on C3-4 the neurosurgeon tried to straighten my cervical curve and gave me what is called a military neck. I now have no cervical curve at all.
I stay in pain in my arms, neck ,shoulders even up to my ears hurt. I have nerve damage . My hands shake when the pain gets bad. I cannot write more than two lines before my fingers and hand start cramping with pain. I do not want anymore surgery .
I am trying to just use epidural nerve blocks for my back and legs. I have lost all reflexes in my ankles. The pain has caused my bp to bee very high. I was taken off blood pressure meds and put on potassium. My bp stays up around 154/94. It was at 186/121 and was ask to sit in waiting room for about 30 minutes. I have also been diagnosed with TIAs. A.K.A mini strokes.
I am currently taking 100 mg of Nucynta ER, 10 mg Oxycodone, 4 mg Tizanidine,800 mg of Neurontin ,150 mg Oxcarbazepine plus potassium 25 mg tab. I have had only three nerve blocks done. My bp was so high that my pmgmt doctor in Atl stopped taking it. My current pain many doctor just always ask why bp was so high . I said because I am in pain. I now have to be seen within 30 minutes oif my arrival. My P mgmt has requested I go back to neurosurgeon about my neck. I had ultrasound on my neck and they found that my thyroid had nodules and the left one is pressing on my carotid artery.
So I have had a recent MRI for my cervical fusion of last year March 15 2914. I was told all they saw was swelling.
I want to get another opinion from a Neurosurgeon from another area. I have been through physical therapy for neck and arms. They stopped it and have not offered me anything other than the epidural injections in my back recently I walked up to my neighborhood CVS about 2 maybe 3 blocks. My bp reading was 202/110. I am still trying to walk as much as I am able. I really don't know what to do next. This last doctor the Neurosurgeon that did my cervical fusion in 2014. I never saw him again. What I mean is he came in and said are you ready for your surgery? I never seen him after I woke from my surgery. He sent me to his N P. When I told her my arm was still hurting and my neck at the base of my skull she said it is your shoulders. She said I now had shoulder problems. I said the doctor checked me for that before when he done his exam on me . I ask to see him they gave me an appointment. Every time my appointment date was near they would call and cancel it and set it for two weeks later. This happened four times then nothing. I told my p.mgmt so he just said he wants me to go see another local Neurosurgeon. Honestly I am at a loss. Just looking for someone who is going through this pain. Seems my husband doesn't get how much pain I am really in. I am greatful to have found this spine-health site. Sorry so long.

  • I am so sorry for what you are going through. In my 15 years of experience with this lousy crap, no one gets it, not my extended family, but I am blessed with a wonderful wife that has been her through it all.

I think you should find a pain doc that works with neurostulators or pain pumps. My pain was uncontrollable until they installed the pump.

    Hang in there and welcome.
