second surgery..L4-5 Microdecompression, L5-S1 fusion in 2 days!

Hello, Im a 21 year old female who will be having .L4-5 Microdecompression, L5-S1 fusion on monday. Ive had a microdiscectomy two years back. Was in decent shape besides constant numbness and nerve pain. I was a lot more mobile and wasnt experiencing week long painful spasms like I was before the surgery.

Jump forward 2 years untill now and ive re-injured my L5-S1 AND also injured L4 aswell.

Really bummed to go through this again. Just need to feel support through this journey.

Thanks guys!

  • As I have had 3 surgeries in two years time on my l4-5 (micro discectomy and decompression) and s1-l5(micro discectomy, emergency repair and second discectomy for burst disc and spinal fluid leak, last surgery fused and removed bone spur with another spinal fluid leak)

It is exhausting to have to start all over after doing all the work already, but being no newbie to pain, definitely doable! For me, patience with the healing was the hardest, but once you start moving and feeling stronger it is so great, best wishes!
  • Thank you for the kind words. It can all be very mentally and physically exhausting but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
