I am a 20 yr old female and I am a little over 1 year post-op from an L4-S1 Spinal Fusion. I had unexplained pain all over my body, so my surgeon had me go for several CT scans (which showed the hardware was in place and the fusion was successful) and an EMG that showed no nerve damage. I have since been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and I am being treated by a Rheumatologist for that. Last week out of nowhere I had extreme numbness from right above my knees to the tips of my toes and sharp pain. After an hour the pain and numbness subsided. Also my lower back where I had the fusion now constantly hurts. Again today out of the blue the same thing happened with the numbness and extreme pain from my knees down. After an hour the pain diminished significantly. I'm at my wits end. Tomorrow I have yet another CT scan and the Dr wants me to go for a bone scan as well. Is it possible that it could be scar tissue? If it was scar tissue wouldn't the pain and numbness be constant instead of intermittent? These "episodes" were 10 days apart. I'm so confused. I don't even see my neurosurgeon, because he keeps telling me that everything looks good. It actually was my Rheumatologist who wants me have the CT scan and bone scan. I don't even know if I should see a Neurologist or another Neurosurgeon. Any help would be appreciated.
