I'm now 3 weeks post op from ACDF c6-7. Went to ark. this weekend and helped 2 college age children move really just supervised. I was proud of myself. Brought pillows to ride in the car for comfort took pain med and muscle relaxer for 4 plushour trip. Felt great, walked down to lake next day severe pain gone.
But I did a stupid thing a friend asked me to go on the new pontoon boat thought it was slow. It wasn't and now I have had muscle spasms and pain since. I probably feel like I did first week again. I'm sure that I strain something with the force of the ride. I know it will get better but for all of you that think well it will be no big deal to ride in a boat.... please don't the force is more than you think. Just thought I would update you on the latest.

  • do you have less pain now than before surgery? Just asking if the surgery was worth it so far. I'm contiplating surgery now and wondering if quality of life is better--sounds like it if a person behaves one self. I have a hard time behaving but will understand fully if life is to be better in the long run.

  • eddy, for me I can honestly say yes. Sure it hurts afterwards and you do have some limits but for me my life is back on track. Prior I could not be upright for more than an hour without horrible nerve pain down my left arm and subscupular (shoulder blade) area.Prior to surgery. I had the ESI,PT, Traction. Knowledge is power! Make sure your have all the test and then have a talk with your love ones. One of my favorite sayings is from my 22 yo daughter when she said one/onehalf wks post op. I have my old mom back. I did not realize that it had gotten so bad. But I personally had stopped living life because I hurt so much. I will support you with info any time.
