Hello everyone, I am a 61 year old currently experiencing what I believe is sciatic nerve pain. I have been having this now going on to 5 months now. It started out as lower back pain in December 2014 which I controlled with heat patches during the day while working. Eventually the left buttox pain that would not let go. I started chiropractic care with x-rays and adjustments. Now the pain is still there but now pain in the calf muscle and tingling I my foot. Just like everyone else, pain is there when I sit or drive but when I am working, on my feet doing construction work, I seem to be fine. With the pain not letting up , I went to local Doctor and they did ex rays and said they couldn't see anything and said next step was a MRI , prescribed Napraxon and said to get back to them on the MRI. I don't have good health coverage an feel like I am putting out a lot of money and no answers, just a lot of pain. I just don't know where to go next. I seemed to have lost all faith in local healthcare.

  • HI, 32cruisin. I'm going through something very similar to what your going through. I was 33 when I blew out my L5 disc, while I was working construction. I had very bad sciatica, so I finally had surgery. That relieved my pain for many years up until the last 6 months. I'm 58 now and I have developed problems with both my lumbar area, and my cervical spine. I'm scheduled for a 4 level C3-C7 spinal fusion in May. After I'm done with that surgery, I'm going for another (5th time) MRI of my lumbar region.

I definitely think you need an MRI. You have to find out what's causing you all this pain. Then you will have to decide if it's treatable without surgery, or you might have to have surgery. Either way, I wish you nothing but success going forward in what ever you choose to do. Please, keep us posted. :) Best wishes, Ken
