Hello! I am new to the site and forum. I am a 35 year old teacher and mother of 3. I slipped on the ice at my school in early January and I am still off work. I went to see my chiropractor immediately after the fall and after 3 weeks of treatment was sent for an MRI which showed L4 and L5 S1 herniation. It took about 4 more weeks to get a referreral and appointment with a nuerosurgeon. The neurosurgeon then ordered a discogram and cervical MRI. I do not see him again until the 23rd of this month. My workers comp claim was denied and the hearing was just continued. As of now, my personal insurance is being used for these procedures and we are paying lots out of pocket. To top it off, the discogram exasperated all symptoms and pain. I know many of you must be in similar situations, how do you keep going when feeling so defeated? My surgical options were fusion through my abdomen or microdiscectomy. That was before the discogram showed further damage than the MRI. Any advice on weighing these options. I appreciate all support and insight!!
