Neck and Back surgery

I have had a Gill Procedure (with cage) on my lower back L5s1 in 2009 right after I had surgery on my neck cervical plate with screws and fusion. 1 year later my left leg and low back became worse so, I was referred to another specialist and he performed a laminectomy (shaved off some of the disks above the cage to give me some relief. Didn't work. I have had multiple steroid shots in my tailbone, lower back and neck, which didn't last more than 2 days and I started gaining weight. So then I was sent to therapy, acupuncture, etc. then finally pain management witch I ended up getting hooked on Norcos.

I decided to find a specialist in adult scoliosis (that's what I was born with) didn't find that out until I was 25 and in a car reck.
So here's what scares me....I went to see the specialist and had a number of tests again, mri, ct, nerve test. He told me he can fuse my lower back above the case where it starts to curve but he had to fix my neck first. Apparently, my neck in really bad and he has to fuse 5 disks going through the back of my neck and didn't give me a positive feeling that it was going to work and that I may be paralyzed but it must be done in order to stabilize my neck so that I can fix the intolerable pain in my lower back.

I would like to know if anyone has any input on my situation. Much appreciated. Sandee.
