First time post here. It's been great to read and learn more from this site. I wanted to post a topic to see if anyone experienced similar symptoms. I'm 43 and had a L5/S1 disc herniation impacting my sciatica on my right side. Horrible pain all down my right side to my toes like many of you stated. Could hardly walk. I had 3 opinions...2 Neuros said discectomy and the Ortho said a fusion. I also have fairly bad disk degeneration apparently on this disc and starting on the one above where the orth said I'll need a fusion in my mid-late 40's anyways so might as well do it now. I decided to go for the Microdiscectomy base dont he neuros recommendations. Surgery went fine and I was back on my feet quickly. It took me about 3 weeks to get back to work. Focused on no BLT with just walking. I'm doing stretching, walking around the neighborhood fine and also workout with light weights......nothing streneous on the back. That was going fine. About 1 month ago, I started feeling sharp pain in my left hip and groin area and goes down to my knee and ankle occasionally, but it's the opposite side or my earlier sciatica pain. They are sharp shooting pains. Often keeps me up at night. My back feels ok. Pretty much a constant the last 2-3 weeks.
The neuro who performed the surgery said the pain will pretty much be like that due to the disk degeneration. I was like yikes...this stinks. I don;t take pain pills, but take advil sometimes. I hate to take that even. Has anyone had this kind of hip pain post surgery? Welcome the feedback.
