I have a recent injury from crossfit class. I was repping pistol squats for time and when I bottomed out on a rep my low back/SI went out. A day later the SI joint was resolving but had radiating pain and numbness down fron of thigh, deep groin pain. After 8 weeks of this pain where walking from my car was a chore, got an MRI.

results of MRI:
Minimal degenerative changes posterior right hip joint. Mild femoral neck
dysplastic bump which will predispose to cam type femoral - acetabular impingement.
Partial thickness tear superolateral labrum of questionable significance.
Not sure if I have 2 things going on or this is related to the nerve pain.

I have not had my follow up yet with DR to determin next steps. I have been to chiro, PT etc during the past 8 weeks but could not reasonably do any of the exercises due to pain level and range limitation with the nerve impingement. From my uneducated interuptation of the MRI results, it does not sound anyhwere near the level of pain and limited motion I am experiencing. Nerve pain when sitting, standing, walking and sleeping. When at rest, the nerve pain is like a hot poker or wire from my abdominals, through my groin, down the inside of the thigh to the knee. When I stand or try to walk, the pain seems to pool into more of a burning sensation and some focused pain just above the knee cap.

Currently on Tramadol for nerve pain management but on my worse days, they do nothing. They basically take the edge off an allow me to get some sleep.

AGE 47 / MALE, long time athlete, this is killing me to be idle.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully doctor will be able to explain and find treatment for your comfort and activities level.

When all spinal issue started with me, I thought once out of pain, back to normal.
Of course , doctor told me my limitations on activities where I understood him much better.....so I would encourage you to have that on your list of questions, so you do not reinsure or worsen.

Doctors are able to disagree on readings MRI and or the importance of what they see or don't see. I gave up quickly in trying to worry about it until doctor visit. That doc explains what he is thinking and then you are both on the same page.

Let us know how you are doing...good luck
