When I had my surgery 2 weeks ago my pain was initially at the base of my neck with night time numbness extending down my left arm and occassionally my right. Since post op the NS told me that the operation took twice as long since the disk had turned to bone and was attached to the base root of the nerve along with the spondylosis and he had to "chip away the bone from the nerve" his exact words!
Since then the pain from the spasms in the trapezius and rhomboid muscles Have been unbearable. Worse yet are the contractions I experience from my shoulder to bicep and down to my thumb. It feels like giving birth! Starts with tingling and pressure, builds to an intense rock hard peak, and finally subsides to pins and needles and weakness. Nothing I try can prevent it once I feel it coming on. I take Valium, Vicodin Tylenol, ice and heat as needed. My NS won't see me until my Six week post op visit. Anyone experience similar symptoms. Feels like an alien wants to pop out from under my shoulder!
