Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums. I am 25 years old, female, and have had a L5-S1 disc herniation on my right side for about 12 years now. Through a mix of chiropractic care and rest, I was able to reduce my sciatica and pain for the past 9-10 years now. Within the past 9 months, I have started exercising at the gym regularly (cardio/strength training) with few issues, but this past week, I noticed the sciatica and pain on my right again. The pain also radiates down to the right side of my tailbone, and whenever this pain occurs, I get an odd feeling in my lower regions (urethral/rectal regions). It has been about 4 days now and the pain has reduced. I haven't had to take any painkillers today. I can walk, drive and I'm sleeping well, but I'm concerned that the feelings down there mean that the disc has shifted to put pressure on the cauda equina. I am scheduled to see a spinal doctor next Wednesday (29th) but am not sure if I should see if I can get an earlier appointment. What do you guys think? Am I just being paranoid? Thank you for your input!!
