I met with a pain management fellow today for the first time. I expressed my concern that most people state that epidural injections don't work. He told me that he could give me a list of 10 that work for every one that fail. I further expressed my fear of the pain of the process. But then he wasted no time recommending RF nerve burning. He wants to give me a series of injections into the facets. ??? I already told him that I am very afraid of more pain. Reading here I learn of severe post procedure pain and failure of nerve burning. No disrespect to any of you or this site but I don't see cheerleaders lining up to praise anything.
With this said I went to a surgical process. He told me that I would not likely find a surgeon that would operate unless and until all other procedures had failed. Money talks, doesn't it? Do no harm! They want me to be a guinea pig in a training hospital? Stick needles anywhere and everywhere? "Does this hurt when a shove this spike in between vertebrae?" Yes Doc. It hurts!!!
So lets bottom line this. I am completely arthritic with no hope of reversal. I will die in pain. I could spend 2-3 years experimenting with procedures that might work but often won't.
So then I read that iFuse has a good success rate. Great!!! What is the total cost? Hospital. Doctor. Staff. Oxygen. Please bottom line this for me. LOL. I'm tired of taking pills. Again no disrespect but I'd like to just know the $$$ amount so that I might write a check for the minimally invasive surgery. LOL. I have some options.
Thank you all. I appreciate you.
