DUI Accident resulted in 10 bulging discs etc... what may life be like

tom21xttom21x Posts: 2

So I am new to all of this spine stuff. I am 23 never had back problems before. DUI offender caused the accident.

I don't know if any of the disc listed below as bulges are also herniated... but this is what I was left with:

• 5 of 6 disc levels have remarkable damage.
◦ 4 levels with a disc bulge
◦ 3 with stenosis
◦ 1 with cord deformity

• 3 of 12 disc levels have remarkable damage.
◦ 2 levels with a disc bulge
◦ 2 levels with loss of disc height

• 4 of 5 disc levels have remarkable damage.
◦ 4 levels with disc bulges

I am having trouble finding any resources with similar damage and was wondering of others experiences.

I am in constant medium-level pain and have ongoing treatment.

Again I am only 23 and have my whole life ahead of me, I feel at a loss of what to expect later down the road.

  • Hey Tom. The mri looks pretty crazy to be honest. Te criminal case against the drunk driver should be the least of your worries.
Concentrate on your health and on getting better.

Looking at all those affected discs makes me wonder of some of this wasn't there previous to the incident?
Did you ever had back or leg pain or numbness?
Anyways your are very young and even in the event of surgery you should recover pretty well.
Just the other day I was watching a documentary about spine docs and there was this little Chinese guy who had some very very messed up spine all crooked and his body was a 90 degrees angle he couldn't even look straight when he walked. And this neurosurgeon fixed this guy after a 10 hours op. He was feeling all good dressed up in a suit lol the Chinese guy was too funny :)
    Take care buddy

    Thanks Daniel!

No, I've never had any pain in my back or leg before nor any numbness.

I am praying I don't need surgery down the road. Hopefully like you say everything will turn out alright.

Comforting to hear that Chinese guy was able to get fixed up after a short surgery. I am still trying to make an appointment with a neurologist who can provide more insight to my back injuries.

    Thanks Daniel!
