Prednisone part 2

I have been dealing with C8 nerve pain from a bad disk at c7-t1 since September. I had acdf at c6-c7 13 years ago and am trying very hard to hold off on another surgery at this time. I have taken everything but the kitchen sink plus acupuncture and PT. I took a prednisone pack 6 months ago and lately I am feeling a bit better and my doctor wants to do one more prednisone pack to help accelerate healing since I am already improving. Anybody else have any insight?

  • I am on day 6 of the prednisone. The 3rd and 4th day were a great vacation from pain. I am tapering now and some of the pain is creeping back some. I will update at the end for the purpose of reference for others facing the same thing.
  • I did better with Prednisone more so than narcotics, started out on the higher dose and taper down, pain returned big time. I'm taking 5mg 2x it takes away a type of pain I have , wish I could take a higher dose but then there's the water retention, You would think in this day n age the drug co.s could figure how to make Pred to work without water retention.

Of course its no money maker for them :o
