I am a 20 year old female who is suffering from chronic lower back and neck problems after a serious car accident 2 years ago. I have a fractured T11 vertebrae and disc degenerations at L5 S1 as well as disc degeneration at C2/3 and C3/4, as well as disc bulges at C4/5 and C5/6. I also have straightening of the cervical lordosis.
I currently take celebrex, lyrica, palexia and endone (on the odd occasion) and walk at least 5km a day. I have had facet joint injections on my lower back and neck, as well as a rhizotomy on my lower back with very limited success. My neck pain is just unbearable! I wish I could take my head off my neck and just let it relax for one moment!
I am very lucky to not have any pinched nerves in my neck as of yet and am hoping that as my discs progressively get worse they will not pinch the nerve! I am suffering from constant headaches and blurred vision from my neck that affect my everyday life.
My pain specialist says that I would have to have "rocks in my head" to ever consider having spinal fusion or an artificial disc replacement.
Does anyone have any advise on how to deal with this, or any treatments options that they have encountered that have helped them? I am only 20 years old...i am trying to finish my university degree but with this constant pain it is impossible to do well!
