So, I've seen 5 doctors and have decided on physical therapy despite 2 of those doctors insisting on surgery for my c5 / c6 herniated disc and stenosis.
But here's the thing. My symptoms are minimal. Occasional numbness, slight dull pain and migraines. I'm nowhere near thinking I need surgery and I can function, live work and even workout without much in the way of pain. It turns out I've probably had this injury for about a decade. It's now turned into bone spurs.
Given all of the stories I've read about surgeons over-prescribing surgery and the minimal pain, I'm hoping to avoid ti all together.
So, I guess my question is how progressive can this injury be? Can I expect it to get worse as I get older? Or if I continue to take care of myself and exercise, will injuries like mine typically stay static?
