10 days ago I had emergency surgery for Cauna Equina Syndrome. My right leg was affected and the bladder for only a few hours before surgery, Immediately after surgery I regained feeling and some strength back except for my calf and foot. I was discharged to inpatient rehab and stayed for a week. I just got home and I can walk with a cane but still have the calf and foot/toe numbness.
I'm wondering if any others who have had this could chime in about recovering (or not) sensation and strength down the road.
This was a complete surprise as I am 42 and had never had a back problem. I had found out I had a herniated disk five days earlier but then lost control of my leg so went to the ER and had surgery a few hours later.
I was also given no discharge instructions regarding spinal precautions. Other than bending lifting twisting. Are there others?
Thanks in advance,
