C5-C6 & C6-C7 Anterior cervical partial corpectomy and fusion

I was in a car accident over 7 years ago. I had immediate issues with both arms and the neck pain came about a year later. I had gone to numerous Dr.s that said nothing was wrong...I lost my job, house & insurance so was not able to get further care until somewhat recently. I'd attained insurance and finally had Drs who listened and did tests (nerve conductivity & MRI) In November of 2014 I had my surgery which was originally supposed to be an ACDF but he ended up doing a C5-C6 & C6-C7 Anterior cervical partial corpectomy and fusion. I was told this was an even more extensive surgery. It is 6 months since said surgery and my Dr tells me he doesn't understand why I'm still having problems...but says it in a way as if he doesn't believe me...which is what happened years ago with other Drs. Says he has never heard of the arm issues (Of which I find hard to believe due to the fact I've read of other people having the same issues). My biggest worry is I just had a follow up MRI & not only has little changed (it says I have bulging disks where supposedly they were taken out...I have a plate in there now & it still shows forminal narrowing...the channels that my arm nerves run through) Im very confused and running out of time in regards to work. My throat is still a huge problem as well...the lump feeling seems to continue to get worse and more constant rather than dissipating. I basically lost the majority of my 30's due to the issues...I thought I was finally on the road to recovery but now I simply don't know what else to do or where else to turn if the Dr continues to not listen. Can someone please help me???

I am sorry that you are still having issues after your surgery. I am in the same boat as you, so I can relate.
Can you ask your doctor to refer you to a pain doctor? That's what I did. I didn't care for my first one, but after researching around, I found one I am happy with. They can offer you therapy, injections, meds & more. Are you taking any meds ?
I hope you can find some relief soon.
  • Did you get a second opinion? Sounds like you need one.
