Staph Infection almost 1 year post op

Last June I had a C5-C7 PCDF this was a follow up procedure to the the C5-C7 ACDF I had back in 2012. Recovery was going well until about October of last year when I started to have a recurrence of the pain and over time some vague symptoms of tiredness, night sweats, and rapid heart rates showed up. The docs could not not nail anything down until a boil popped up in my incision line on the back of my neck near my hairline. Initially it was thought to be a infected hair follicle and my primary care doc put me on a course of bactrim which did absolutely nothing. I happened to have a follow up a week later at the orthopedic surgeon where he decided to aspirate the area and send it in for a culture,. It came back as Staphylococcus Aureus, thankfully not MRSA. The month long course of Keflex at 2 gm per day did not clear it up so I am now scheduled for a debriedment and washout on Monday the 11th. I will also be having a PICC line inserted followed by 1-2 months of antibiotics at home.

Anyone else been through this? Any tips? At this point they do not think the hardware is infected based on the MRI, however they will not know until they get in there. I hope this goes well as I burned through most of my vacation and sick time last year recovering from the other surgeries.
