20 year old male.
In Mid-December I pulled something in my back whilst doing a deadlift in the gym. From then until April of this year, I have had a continuous lower back pain on the lower left hand side, which was bad but not too bad (maybe a 3 at all times), which would come and go, and would not matter whether I was standing or sitting.
Since April, my pain has changed dramatically. The location of the pain has shifted downwards to the top of the buttocks on the left hand side and just above, accompanied by tingling and numbness (not too bad) in the back of the knee and calve. The sensation in the leg is very mild, but the lower back pain has become progressively worse, even with strong meds and PT.
My osteopath believes I may have a bulging disc. Does this sound likely, or could it be herniated given the leg issues? I can not sit down for more than 15-20 mins comfortably, however standing or lying down is a lot better but not completely painless. I also have to take pain meds every day. Doctor's refuse me an MRI because they think I would be in more pain if it was a herniated disc.
