Need help please.
I am a 40 y/o female.
I had an MRI for upper buttock pain/ leg pain I was experiencing for many months. It was tolerable pain though. It showed I have a herniation in L5 S1 that is compressing a nerve. (It also shows a tear in L4 L3 but that is from when I was a teenager, very old and not compressing any nearby nerves)
Orthopedist sent me for 6 weeks of Physical therapy, where I slowly got worse. It was no longer tolerable. I quit PT and did a steroid dose pack, which worked great! But the pain came back. I then had an injection in the piriformis muscle/SI
Joint. It worked but But the pain came.
I started anti-inflammatories (diclofenac) which worked great! But suddenly they just stopped working on me one week ago???
Now my butt and leg hurt really bad, totally unlike before, with pins and needles in the bottom of my foot, occasionally in calf and behind knee.
I started taking Percocet last Friday, which takes the edge off. Today I had another injection, this time a caudal epidural. I have no change in my pain yet.
This has to be related to the disc compressing the nerve right? That's what 3 drs eluded to, but the pain mgt specialist said he thought the disc and the butt/leg pain were not related. How can that be. So confused. Can anyone relate, offer advice, or think this makes sense? I'm doing everything they tell me to!
Thanks for taking the time to read
