Aching feet after fusion

I had spinal fusion in December of level 4, 5 and S1 with rods and six screws.

Since the surgery I've had this feeling of numbness in my feet, its like a gnawing/ burning/ aching feeling and is there constantly.

For the first 12 weeks I had no sciatic pain at all, which was a massive relief, however after I went back to work the sciatic pain has now returned and is so painful. I've had one follow up since the surgery at 8 weeks, it wasn't with the surgeon but with a registrar who was very dismissive about the aching pain in my feet. I sent an email to the surgeon who said it should ease off after a couple of months and he would expect the pain to decrease after three months.

However it has been five months now and the sciatic pain is agony and the aching in my feet is constantly there. I've asked for another follow up but they will only offer me one more follow up in a years time, so not until 2016.

My GP recommended physio and I've been on the waiting list for the last four months, but the list is really long so I'm still waiting.

Feeling so alone with this - since having surgery it has been so difficult to have any questions answered by the surgical team and my GP doesn't have the specialist knowledge of what is normal after this kind of surgery.

Is anyone else experiencing sciatic pain which came back after surgery, or aching in their feet? Has it passed eventually?
