i understand you not wanting to...feel doped up......but sometimes meds are needed post op to aid in healing and recovery.
Did you speak with doctor re your expectation to be pain free? And any limitations with activities you may have? And for how long?

Who are you seeing as follow up after surgery? Surgeon only or any kind of spine specialist for pain management?

There are other tests than MRI to help doctor to see if spine is acting up .....maybe elsewhere.

No one doubts your pain. Sometimes it can take awhile to discover cause of pain....and that can be crazy making.
Please continue to let doctor know how you are feeling and ask questions so you have best understanding in what to expect and how to take care of yourself.

  • I have seen my back doctor and he told me to see his nurologist...i feel as if he doenst believe me because theres no proof or reason (in his words) so i went to an outside nurologist and they shocked the crap out of one leg and poked needles thru my muscles thru my leg and bag and the nurologist said that when she poked the needles thru my back something wasnt right (this was the least painful part everything else has me in full blown tears) so i also forwarded everything to my pcp and he says hes not sure whats going on but when he reads mri it says 1.5 cm mass close to area operated and 3 other mm size masses so not sure what thats about...but i no between that and him telling me he got ths report from the nurologist hes referring me back to my back doctor so i no something is wrong...my symptoms worsen when i sit (in chair position, for example, i cant sit in church for a whole service because the pain gets worse) if i do have my legs level with my back i have to "shift weight" of my body...i dont no how else to explain it...if i get up and move around i regret it at the end of the day and will have intense leg pain....so what else can arise from this
