For several months I have had muscle pain in my left buttocks that moved down my thigh and in my lower calf. Sitting is excruciating getting up from a sitting postion is unbearable and lying down can be uncomfortable. My only relief is standing and moving around. When I'm working there is relief because I walk a lot. On a day off I'm in pain because I'm not active. I went to a chiropractor because I thought it was sciatica. He wasn't a help at all. I got an MRI and found I herniated disc L5 S1 pinching a nerve (I'm assuming it's the sciatic nerve). NNeurologist has me on Muscle relaxers and anti inflammatory meds (isn't helping). I recently bought an inversion table, seems to provide relief as long as I'm on it but definitely no long term relief. My question is why am I fine when I'm upright and moving around (whereas other posts I see people can't walk) and how do I fix this problem. Is surgery inevitable and am I making it worse by not getting surgery immediately.
