Incisional care 1 wk post-op

Hi all,
I am around 1 week from my MIS TLIF procedure. I have 1 incision in the lower back, around 2 1/2-3 inches long. My surgeon said to leave the incision open to air and not to keep it covered (only cover when icing and wearing back brace). I still have my stiches (I get them out Monday). It is itchy and I feel uncomfortable keeping it exposed. I am allowed to shower and let soap and water gently run over it and then pat dry. with medical gauze.
I guess I would like to know if it is normal for it to be itchy and any saf recommendations for keeping it open to air. I guess big shirts?
Incisional feedback needed???
