Pain control pre diagnosis

Alright ladies and gentlemen.... I am not new to the site only the topic.
I am 4 years post AILF and that end is in pretty good shape considering. With the lumbar region I have learned very well when nerves are continuously being effected.
Due to a sudden onset of new symptoms I will be scheduling an appt with my GP to get a referral for an MRI. Until that point I know I may be able to get a few words of advice from those who are familiar with neck pain.
I recently got my blood levels checked(Dr checking thyroid and diabetes) due to headaches, dizziness and fatigue. Blood levels checked out except a slightly elevated white blood cell count. Late last week, I woke up with pains running through my clavical area. By lunch time(I work with pneumatic tools at a bench all day) the pain was running down my left arm into my fingers. Massive headache running from the base of my neck up my skull. Left side behind my ear had an excruciating amount of pressure. It was obvious by this point that a nerve in my neck was highly irritated. The muscles in my neck don't seem stiff but when I stand up or turn my head too certain points I get really dizzy. I have been completely off balance for a few days now as well. If I sit down for a little bit, muscle spasms in my shoulder blade area kick in and it feels as though I can't breathe until I stand up or completely rest. I don't want anyone to throw a diagnosis for that will come in time. I am however hoping that anyone who has dealt with similar pain, can throw a few suggestions on what to do or not to do in the meantime. Any help is appreciated.

  • I'm also going through similar symptoms..I'm used to dealing with severe lumbar issues too. I had a cervical epidural a couple of years ago because of severe shoulder pain and radiating nerve pains down my arm and hand. My neck hurt too but not as bad. Back then MRI showed severe desiccation at C5-6 and bulging, as well as disc bulges at C3-C7; mild kyphosis C3-7. Recently I had severe onset of shoulder pain, and radiating pain down my arm. I get headaches in the occipital region of the skull and have numbness and aching between my shoulder blades. That last epidural helped for a long time. I guess I didn't pay alot of attention to my neck since my lower back is much worse, and I had RFA there several weeks ago. Please let us know how your MRI goes and I hope you get some relief. Where you given anything for your neck pain?
