Injection soon after MIcroDiscectomy

Hi, I have severe foot pain after a MIcroDiscectomy - nerve blocks have helped me a lot in the past and my pain management specialist suggested another one two weeks after my MD which hasn't done anything for my pain. My surgeon says it is not a good idea as it can hinder healing and introduce infection. However , nerve blocks are really effective for me ( stop pain for two months ) and I am tempted to have it. What do you think ? I cannot tolerate nerve medication like Gabapentin, Lyrica etc . Thanks.
