Fluid build up after surgery

Hey guys need some help here after I had the coflex implants put in at L4 to S1 about 4 weeks ago right after I developed a staph infection. It's looking like I got the staph infection under control but now it seems like the incision won't heal up because I keep building fluid up around the area and it keeps reopening the wound up. My surgeon keeps telling me it's no big deal but then wants me to drive 5 plus hrs to see him every week to have it drained which I can't do because my wife would have to drive me and also car rides like that about kill me from pain. Is there any other options out there no dr around me will touch me after the infection and also because it's surgical. Any help here would be appreciated because the swelling keeps getting worse not better and it's also causing pain in my legs and feet because it's is pushing on nerves
