Hi. I'm so desperate for help. I have had chronic pain for years, but in the last 6 months or so I am in intolerable pain. I've seen pain drs and surgeon. I have spondylosis, bulging disc's, herniated discs, arthritis in my neck. I have a whole slew of back problems. Ins changed starting with new drs. Have had all mri's, the injections did nothing but I'm hoping a new pain specialist can help. Surgery is my option if new pm dr doesn't work. I'm sorry this is so long to get to my point. Just need help with what on earth to do! Pm doesn't prescribe muscle relaxers and the Norco keeps me awake and doesn't work. All the codones do the same. Sometimes heart palpation. Codeine was bad due to depression. They have my mri's. The surgeons notes and I don't know what to ask for when I go in. I'm done. This has been insane. I can't live my life. Does anyone know what would give me relief from pain and also make my back spasms less. I've taken all non narcotic muscle relaxers they don't work. Soma works somewhat. But I really feel like I'm looked at like I'm exaggerating my pain and want meds stronger. This I don't know how to handle. When I was in CA n my back was thrown out. I had no problems. In AZ I'm having problems as I said. Please help me. I can't handle it anymore. I want to be received of the pain but not be out to lunch either. I need to get back to life, get a part time job. Praying for rapid info that will finally give me my life back or at least not be in constant agony. Thank you so much for any info that may help. If I post again it won't be long!!!!

  • Hi Denise. I'm so terribly sorry that you're suffering like this! Sometimes finding the right medications to help ease our pain can be very hit & miss. It took me ages to find the right combinations & realize that some types of meds worked better when combined with others for me.
I can't take any of the nerve meds because of horrible side effects. I have a compounded cream that also has ketamine & lidocaine to numb & muscle relaxants as well as the nerve meds. It took a few dose & med adjustments but now it works well for me (when my insurance allows it. It's very expensive!). No liver risks or nasty side effects ;-)
Have you tried trigger point injections (search at the top of the page) for the spasms? I've had both kinds many times & find that the Botox & steroid ones work best & last longest. They work best for me when I can ice straight after & then stretch religiously.
It's always worth getting second opinions, particularly if you're not getting relief & you're unsure about a huge decision like surgery. I'd get 3rd opinions before going under the knife with a new surgeon!

Anyway....Hi & welcome. I hope you get the advise & support you need. I look forward to seeing you on the forums.
