Anyone taking Prednisone long term over a year? Problems as you go on?

I've been on Prednisone for over a year, this helps some of my chronic back pain which is a pulling out of the back pain.

My problem is holding water, I take Lasix on an off when I cannot stand the bloat any longer.

Does anyone take the Dandelion meds sold OTC, does it help?

With all steroids, long term effects could include:

    • - Mood swings
      - Weight gain
      - Cataracts
      - Rashes
      - Asthma
But like I said could As long as your doctor is fine with this, then not much more any of us can really say.

Oh I haven't heard of Dandylion for pain, I'll look into that. I'm trying the Tumeric (for inflammation) at the moment. I've only been trying it for a week & the weather is crazy in Texas (weather drives my arthritis crazy so it's hard to tell if anythings helping!). In my opinion it's worth trying anything (docs say is ok) you never know what's going to help, just a little. I've tried sooooo many things over the years. For me specialists can only do so much. I need to find natural ways to help get my pain down further.

My only experience with steroids is injections & the 'packs' you take for a week. Very hit & miss. When things are really bad I do the packs & they usually help me get a handle on my pain again.

  • I just started taking prednisone and I like to do my research cuz who can trust doctors? But it says that diuretics can interact with prednisone. Just FYI.
