Here's my story:
Been suffering from significant back/leg pain since February of this year. After injections, PT, some chiro care I finally had an MRI. Showed a huge herniated disc at L5-S1. Had the surgery on 6/11. It went really well and the doc said it was a mess. He had to do both sides, a laminectomy, clean up "debris" and expand the holes in my vertebrae where the nerves go through. Also, they were not able to fix the annular tear.
So the first 3 days after surgery were great. Was up and walking the day of, probably overdid it the next few days walking too much, going to kids baseball games, etc. It is now 5 weeks from the surgery and I have more pain and symptoms then I did prior to the surgery. I have pain in both hips, but mainly my right hip and nerve pain down that leg and into my feet. My ankles and tops of my feet burn frequently and there is a near non stop muscle twitching in the arches of my feet.
Initially they felt this was all normal post surgery inflammation, nerves healing and all that. However they did a followup MRI yesterday which I have not gotten the results on yet.
Please tell me others have had similar experiences and it is just going to take time!!!
Very concerned this is what my life is going to be like from now on!
