I am on day 7 fast approaching post-op...I was on hydrocodone for 3 years prior to surgery.I was sent home continue to take hydrocodone 10/325 -6 times a day. and another script of 5mg oxycodone 1-2 every 4 hours ,take with 2 tylenol... well theses meds do not even touch the pain so I call Neuro and they start me on gabapentin 100mg 3X's a day.(quit this med a long time ago it make me mean)...bacloflen 10mg 3 X's a day... I am in so much pain I want to die.
third call to neuro they tell me I am on the highest dose of meds that they can give,if that is the case why are they not touching the pain at all ?
so nurse then sets me up a schedule to take meds so I am taking meds every 2 hours and not without meds in my system.
since surgery I have gotten no sleep. I doze sleep sitting up.
4th call of unbearable pain and I tell them I need pain relief and it doesn't have to be narcotic pain meds just something that will help,so they give me valium. Nurse tells me I have a rough couple of days ahead yet ? WTH is that suppose to mean I am on edge now.
why won't they give me anything stronger I just want some relief so I can heal. am I being unreasonable wanting something stronger or do I just suck it up and suffer ?
Nurse told me if pain gets too bad then I should go to ER,But why can't they get a hold on pain before it gets to point I am in ER?
