Discogram Freak Oiut

I am desperately hoping for anyone who's had a discogram on degenerative discs (mine are L4-L5-S1) to tell me about your experience, give me tips, and describe some things I should expect or ask for . I'm a extremely nervous by nature--anxiety issues, bipolar diagnosis--a real mental circus going on. Anyways, I'm freaking out, but I need to do this scary procedure in order to determine if I need surgery (I'm 35, male).

The doctor is not giving me any type of IV or pain meds (I had this for my cort. injections). That stuck me as odd. He will give me a Xanax. I wonder how that helps. I take other benzos for my own prescription regimen, and was thinking about taking some Klonopin prior to leaving and the Xanax he prescribed when i get there. i will have a panic attack and need to be completely mellow during this.

This takes place Wed. morning. Please, please, please...any kind soul have words of wisdom. i need the reality of what to expect.

I'm so sorry...you must have had the discogram by now. How did it go? I have severe DDD and after a year of trying many things I flew to the [edit] Clinic to see if I could get a different opinion there. They said I could try a biacuplasty which may or may not work, but that I would need to do a discogram first to make sure my pain is coming directly from my disc.. I read about discograms and was way too chicken to do one. You get no anesthetic of any kind...as you know. The biacuplasty was just a chance...40% of them work for the right demographic and out of those 40% most wear off after 3 months or so. So...it seemed too iffy to me anyway. I hope it was not too awful and you are done with it. Please let me know how it went for you.
