Have any of you experienced this with your DDD (mine is at L4-L5-S1): *35 y.o. male*

Numbness in face
Tingling, pins and needless, numbness in extremities (fingers, hands, forearms///feet, calves
Pain in feet (especially when walking, running or standing
Sluggish, heavy legs
Neurological sensations like muscles firing and spasming and a feeling like little electric fireworks spreading throughout body
Difficulty peeing--strained, slight twinging
Having to pee a lot
Pain in perineum (almost like it's prostrate related)

I've been through every test for these symptoms. No real answer yet. I keep thinking this might be tied to my DDD. About to get discogram and I'm really nervous.

Please, any input is most appreciated.

DDD in lumbar should not cause much of this, sounds more like a neurapthy. I would say seeing a neurologist or neuromuscular specialist will be a good step. Do you have any cord contact from the DDD?
Do your due dilegence, trust you know your body and question everything if it does not fit. Advocate for yourself and you will be suprised what will be revealed trusting your body and instinct.
  • Yes - Numbness in face (Left side) - diagnosed as "Trigeminal" nerve compression, (it's described on the web).
Yes - Pins and needles diagnosed as "Anesthesia/Parathesia" Ankylosing Spondulitis C4/C5/C6.
Yes - Pain in feet...actually numbness from L4/L5 herniated discs - no neuropathy
    Yes - Numbness/heaviness in left leg - shooting pains - L5 herniated disc....no neuropathy.
Yes - Loss of bladder control...L2/L3/L4/L5 DDD & lumbarisation of S1....no neuropathy.
    Yes - Constipation/compaction..... loss of feeling in perineum/anus....L5 herniation/cord compression....no neuropathy

Obviously I have a full listing of DDD MRI investigations including Hemangioma's at T10 & L2 along with Facet joint arthropy, bone spurs, bilateral stenosis etc and Active Denervation but no Reported Neuropathy......

More or less discharged from Neurological care and left to sort it out on my own... as best as I can.

I have L3-s1 issues and have a lot of what you described due to herniated discs. Never told it was my DDD causing it directly. Told it was the discs flattened and compressing nerves, along with bone spurs, arthritis in neighboring fascets causing the narrowing of my spinal column and also the shift of my bones.

. Gabapentin started two months ago really helped the electricity and ice picks. Still have loss of sensation and numbness in feet and legs. Never dad a disco. Hope it helps. Have you had an MRI?

Zach333, you said you have had all testing done for this, no offense but I highly doubt the doctors have done all the testing that could reveal cause. Just off top head have you had Lyme testing, autonomic, small fiber neurapathy testing, vitamin B testing etc etc. no one can ever say they have had all the testing done unfortunately so keep pushing
