Does anyone know how a bilateral lower extremities emg shows normal when I'm in excruciating foot pain? Shouldn't something show up?

There are so many different ways to administer EMG tests.

Generally, the doctors are doing that diagnostic test because they are trying to isolate a problem.

Having foot pain does not mean something in a EMG is going to say anything. What has been the opinions of your doctors up to date?
Since the EMG is normal, what are they saying?

What i would like to see happen in the medical community is when they refer to EMG/Nerve conduction they dont say nerve testing , but large fiber nerve testing. When this test is normal it implies you have no nerve issues occuring , which is flat out wrong, this test only tests the large fiber nerves. If you have small fiber nerve issues this test means nothing more than to verify not large fiber involvement also happening. The test itself has alot of room for error also, i had around 6 in last 3 years and each doctor said they wanted to do their own cause they did not trust anyone else methods . Do you have burning in both feet?
Do your due dilegence, trust you know your body and question everything if it does not fit. Advocate for yourself and you will be suprised what will be revealed trusting your body and instinct.
  • Neurologist says disc bulges are pressing on nerves to feet.Spine surgeon says he doesn't see that being the problem, so I'm off to a neurosurgeon in 3 weeks for his opinion.
