bone graft v cage

Hi Everyone,
I don't have any pain but do have numbness in my legs and hands. Following MRI scans, I have been recommended to have a c4 corpectomy. One surgeon has recommended doing this with an iliac crest grafting another has said he would do it using a cage and my own bone. My GP meanwhile, is telling me that I should try deep intramuscular acupuncture to treat the symptoms although this clearly won't change the cause of my numbness. She is advising me to try everything rather than 'this delicate surgery'. This is just making me more scared about the possibility of things going wrong.
I think I am coming to understand that the surgery is probably what I need to do in order to avoid further deterioration but I'm very frightened and I'm confused. I suspect it may just be a difference of terminology but I'm struggling to find anyone on this site who describes their surgery as a c4 corpectomy so perhaps someone could clarify this for me? I'm told that grafting has resulted in considerable pain for many people so I'm wondering why anyone would choose that option if there is an alternative, which I at least, am being told is as good as. I'm not asking for advice since it has to be my decision but I am interested to know other peoples experience of this surgery. I also would love to hear from anyone who has had Intra muscular acupuncture. I should add that I'm a 55 year old woman living in the UK and reasonably fit.
Thank you!
