I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis. I'm 74 years old, and the pain was near unbearable. I had an MRI and was referred to a surgeon. While waiting for surgery, I decided to try acupuncture and PT. After about 10 acupuncture treatments I am now completely pain free. The surgeon said the acupuncture didn't treat the problem, only the symptoms, and that surgery is still a good idea.
On the other hand, at my age recovery from surgery will take a long time. I'm healthy and active, and I don't want to be out of action for the two to six weeks recovery may take. I'm thinking of cancelling the surgery, and would like to hear from anyone else who has faced this decision.
