Ok long story short(hopefully) I had surgery on disc between L3-L4 in march. Had and incident lifting a basket of clothes that took me to the ground in may. I've been back on pain meds from my regular doctor. Hydrocodone 5mg. 50 per month. I got referred to pain management. That doc told me to get accupuncture for pain. To take turmeric for inflammation and he ordered another MRI to see what was going on. The surgery area was swollen and muscles are very tight. L5-S1 There is slight pressure on the sack? And L4-L5 there is also slight pressure. He said my pain is scrictly from the muscles being swollen and tight. He halved my script to 25 and said that's the last I will receive. I constantly wake up from pain and don't know where to go from here. He is basically telling me to live with this pain and receive no real help. My insurance wont cover the accupuncture and I can't afford it out of pocket as I'm only working part time due to my back pain. I am only able to lift 30lbs according to my regular doctor. Is seeking a second opinion a good idea? This hospital is known for not doing things like others...they once told my sister her nose was not broken....it was obvious it was just by looking at it. Am I crazy for thinking I deserve to be in less pain than I am? Should I just have to live with this pain? I'm just so confused as to why a pain management doctor says to me at the first meeting that he can tell I'm in a lot of pain, and yet basically say your cut off from any pain medication. Any input would be great, thanks.
