Hello, I'm a 42 year old that's been thru what seem's like two tornadoes these last two months and would like to hear if anybody has had similar situations with your RFA"S and what you would do in my situation??? On 5/27 I had what was suppose to be "RFA" done on my Right l3-s1 where I have a herniated l4-l5 and an acute pars fracture ALL on my right side...I'm 100% positive it was facet injections at this DR's little independent location! I get a call from the Dr and says that on 6/11 we got approval to perform my left l3-s1 at a huge hospital and was like OK! So I go in for my 6/11 RFA on my left side that DIDNT need RFA and this time I actually got RFA and the whole nine yards! I felt the nerve cauterization and the burning! Totally different than what he did at his office! I'm so frustrated because NOW my left side feels like cement and all my weight bearing activities are causing miserable pain on my right side the ONLY side that needed to be fixed! On top of all of this, this particular Dr. never billed me or even my insurance for my right side BUT on 6/11 he's trying to charge my insurance $9350 for my left side that never needed the RFA! Also, on top of everything mentioned above he never took any ex-rays or even get a current MRI and basically just took my word that my right side was injured and feel like I just got bitten by a SNAKE!!! Any words of wisdom or guidance on what to do next??? I have an appointment with another back specialist tomorrow so was just wondering if anybody here has encountered anything similar???? I hope NOT!!! Thanks so much for taking your time to read my 1st post!!!

  • I had mine done on 8/28 both sides L3-S1. I was not awake. When I woke up thought I was on fire. Gave me ice and Diladid and went home with instructions to ice every 4 hours. Next day very tender and groin pain nerve pain different areas but nothing that was unbearable. I am on opana ER and opana IR and also told to take Tylenol or Advil. I trust my Pain management doctor completely since he is really trying to help relieve my chronic condition and knows no surgery. Mine is done at out patient ambulatory care. I hope not to have any more treatments for awhile. He used guided ultra sound for procedure. My was called coolief RF. I'm hoping for much relief in a couple of weeks which he tells me will happen.
