I am wondering what is the appropriate level of painkiller to take, not to overdo or underdo it.
I have a disc injury from c5c6 and it is very painful and not going away any time soon. I do what exercise I can and use heat/ice/pt/nsaids so I'm not just taking tons of painkillers, I dont want to get euphoric and get addicted but I need a certain level of pain relief... this is where I ask you guys.
I've heard some people say that a long term med should control all pain and that is the most effective way, with a short term med for breakthrough, but the long term med should cover 100% of an average day's pain. Is this correct?
Should Chronic Pain Patients like myself be on dose that completely removes all pain? Should there still be some minor but manageable discomfort so that I can feel when I am doing something that will cause pain? I definitely dont want o increase my pain and have to keep increasing my dose of painkillers, that is how I will end up an addict.
I am 26 and pain is completely controlling my life right now. I can barely go out, drive, or do anything.
